Howdy.
Welcome to my little corner of the art world.
I’m a Northern Michigan native living in the southwest corner of Colorado with my husband, Mason, and our rescue pup, Bandit. We love spending our free time playing outside in the nearby mountains and desert.
My art journey began as a child, I've always loved to create. Growing up, I was surrounded by creative people. My grandma, a watercolorist; my aunt a painter as well; my brother a talented photographer (and now owns a successful media production company), heck my dad is a naturally talented artist! The list goes on. While I pursued a career in physical therapy, my love for art eventually called me back to my roots.
Mountain Mel Designs started as a fun side project to occupy my of free time during the pandemic. I had been gifted many of my grandmother's watercolor paint tubes and brushes, so I bought some paper and got busy! It started out as a way to fill the quiet moments of my days, but has since has evolved to something more. Still a passion yes, but also a drive to get my art out in the world!
My goal is to create art that is welcoming and approachable, with a variety of medias and techniques. You will find mostly Colorado and Southwest inspired landscapes and illustrations in my repertoire, but occasionally I do enjoy switching it up to other subjects.
Thanks for reading, thanks for being here and supporting this venture of mine, cheers!
